Jennifer A. Guy

Jennifer A. Guy is a partner with O'Donnell, Robertson & Partners whose practice encompasses both the provision of complex coverage advice and the defence of insured interests. Jennifer was called to the bar in 2002, after completing her law degree at the University of Toronto (LL.B, 2000). She also completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto (B.A., 1997), graduating as the silver medalist. Jennifer has provided hundreds of coverage opinions to insurers in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom and has defended product liability, professional liability, occupiers' liability, municipal liability and personal injury claims.

Practice Focus:

  • provision of coverage advice relating to commercial general liability, errors and omissions, environmental, directors and officers, builder's risk, property, automobile and excess and umbrella policies, as well as, specialty coverages including life insurance agents E&O, information technology E&O, multimedia liability and contractor's protective liability coverage.
  • coverage counsel in major multi-jurisdictional coverage disputes including class actions, product recall, environmental disasters, mass torts, and multidistrict litigation including provision of coverage advice relative to long tail liability, allocation between insurers and allocation between insurer and policyholder.
  • defence counsel in product liability actions involving pharmaceutical and medical devices, failures of large industrial equipment, and consumer goods.
  • defence counsel to municipalities, school boards, medical laboratories, property management companies and retailers.

Advocacy Experience:

Jennifer has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, including as lead trial counsel. She also has significant experience in alternative dispute resolution.
