Antonios T. Antoniou

Tony Antoniou a partner with O'Donnell, Robertson & Partners received his B.A., from York University and his LL.B. from the University of Windsor. Since his call to the bar, Tony has practiced in the area of insurance defence litigation. Tony completed his articles with the Lawyers' Professional Indemnity Company with a concentration in the areas of professional liability insurance.

Tony applies his knowledge, experience and expertise in order to provide clients with legal services of the highest standard and with a strategic and cost-effective approach. Tony has extensive expertise in the application of the laws and Rules of Civil Procedure that are available to bring a swift end to claims that are often frivolous, vexatious or an abuse of process. Tony was lead counsel before the Ontario Court of Appeal on what is now the leading decision on Rule 2.1.01 of the Rules of Civil Procedure setting the legal test for the summary dismissal of frivolous and vexatious claims.

Advocacy Experience:

  • Trial and appellate experience in all levels of court in Ontario.
  • Appearances before various tribunals including the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and the Office of the Director of Titles.
  • Extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution.
  • Argued the leading decision before the Ontario Court of Appeal on new Rule 2.1.01 of the Rules of Civil Procedure setting the legal test for the summary dismissal of frivolous and vexatious claims: Scaduto v. The Law Society of Upper Canada, 2015 ONCA 733 (CanLII).
